What you will be able to do.
Integration and transformation leaders, directors, VPs and senior banking professionals taking responsibility across technology workstreams.
- Translate the deal rationale into IT priorities, ownership and a realistic cost envelope.
- Defend platform choices and a migration sequence that protects banking services.
- Challenge readiness evidence, AI outputs and the assumptions behind the savings.
Your own integration blueprint: the mandate, platform choices, Day 1 plan, migration roadmap, readiness assessment and benefits scorecard.
IN PRACTICE
Two banks. One integration to lead.
A retail and commercial bank has acquired a competitor. Their core platforms, customer records and payment interfaces differ. The sponsor wants early savings; operations must preserve service continuity. You need a plan that accounts for both.
Build an individual integration blueprint. As the evidence changes, revise your decisions and explain the impact on customers, risk, cost and timing.
Illustrative learning scenario.
TRY A PROGRAMME EXERCISE
Would you approve the migration?
The programme report says “ready”. You have three pieces of evidence and a decision to make.
A short fictional case · Authored feedback · No specialist software needed
ReconciliationException unresolved
Account totals match at bank level, but 27 individual account balances do not reconcile. The cause has not been established. The case requires every exception to be resolved or explicitly accepted by the accountable business owner.
PaymentsEvidence incomplete
Individual application tests passed. The complete payment journey through the target core platform and clearing interface has not been tested. The agreed readiness criteria require this end-to-end evidence.
ContingencyOwnership missing
A recovery procedure has been drafted, but no decision owner or invocation threshold is named. The agreed criteria require an accountable owner and a rehearsed recovery plan before migration.
Illustrative AI summary: “Balances reconcile and application tests passed. The migration is ready.” Check that summary against the underlying evidence.
CURRICULUM
Your learning path.
6 modules · Individual final case · Learn at your own pace
01Define the integration mandate
Connect the deal rationale, IT due diligence, scope and value assumptions. Separate evidence from inference when using AI to review information.
In practice: Triage a fictional diligence pack and identify the decisions that need an owner.
Your output: Integration mandate and value/risk brief.
Approximately 2 hours
02Choose the target landscape
Compare core banking, payments, customer-data and reporting platforms. Weigh coexistence, migration and modernisation, including inherited cloud and AI services.
In practice: Compare platform options against business, cost and risk criteria.
Your output: Architecture decision paper.
Approximately 3 hours
03Organise the programme and protect Day 1
Set decision rights, workstream ownership and supplier responsibilities. Plan essential services, temporary arrangements, people and escalation.
In practice: Resolve competing Day 1 priorities and assign accountable owners.
Your output: Day 1 readiness and governance plan.
Approximately 3 hours
04Design data migration and the roadmap
Sequence customer or product waves around interfaces, data quality, resources and costs. Validate AI-assisted mappings and retain a traceable evidence trail.
In practice: Revise the migration sequence when a dependency or capacity assumption changes.
Your output: Integrated roadmap and cost envelope.
Approximately 3 hours
05Test readiness and make the go-live decision
Examine reconciliation, end-to-end tests, rehearsals, defects and contingency plans. Establish who can accept risk and what the decision requires.
In practice: Challenge a positive status report and make an evidence-based go/no-go recommendation.
Your output: Readiness assessment and decision record.
Approximately 3 hours
06Deliver value and close the integration
Track dual-running costs, legacy retirement and realised savings. Set the evidence and ownership needed for stabilisation, handover and closure.
In practice: Adjust the benefits forecast when a decommissioning milestone slips.
Your output: Benefits and closure scorecard.
Approximately 2 hours
YOUR FINAL CASE
